Polish government stated a resolution in Memory of the victims of the Volyń tragedy
The Polish government stated a resolution which appreciated the Memory of the victims of the Volyń tragedy
It is emphasized in the resolution that for Polish-Ukrainian conciliation, admission the guilt for crimes and commemoration of the victims of the tragedy are necessary.
‘Polish-Ukrainian conciliation that has been built for years by representatives of both nations must include admission of guilt and commemoration of the Memory of the victims of the Second World War as well. Exhumation, proper burial and commemoration of all victims of genocide in the Eastern Kreses are essential’, - stated in the resolution.
Reference: yesterday, in Poland, the 80th anniversary of the Volyń tragedy was officially commemorated. Socio-ethnic confrontation between Ukrainians and Poles in the Second World War years and the first post-war years was and still is a tragic part of our history. Nowadays, Russians often use the Polish-Ukrainian past in order to quarrel Ukraine with Poland.
