Get out of Warsaw, Muscovites! Building at 45 Kielecka St. taken away from the Russians

The building at 45 Kielecka St. was taken away from the Russians. Had to open the doors by force.

Warsaw City Hall took back the property that had been used by Russia. The city which represents the State Treasury did this via the actions of bailiffs, enforcing the decision of the District court in Warsaw. To get indoors they had to use force. The entrance door was broken.

By the decision, the District Court in Warsaw obliged the Russian Federation to transfer the property, - the Vice President of Warsaw, Tomasz Bratek said.

He explained that measures had been going on from the morning to the evening on Saturday, the 29th of April 2023:

-         We had to apply force in order to get into the territory where there are two buildings. Firstly, the Russian side rejected opening the gates, wickets, entrance doors, - he said.

Details of the action

‘When the Russian side saw that we were not to refuse our aim, after negotiations, via the Deputy Ambassador, it decided to give us the keys. We took them’, - he added.

The Deputy Mayor of the city, Bratek, pointed out that, according to the statement of the Russian side, there lived 27 people, who voluntarily left the territory and got assurance that all what they own and the school equipment would be given to them by the city.

What is up with the building now?

He stated that the gained property is in great state and can be used for educational purposes. We intend to apply to the Mazowiecki Voivodeship to give the property for educational measures. To have the possibility of effective fighting with difficulties related to the double age group. Thanks to this, we will be able to use these premises for education purposes. – he added.

From today the property is secured. Right after the weekend there will be an inventory of buildings and checked to what extent their condition meets the needs of educational institutions, - he said. ‘At first sight it seems they meet these needs’, - he estimated.

The Vice President stated that after giving verdicts there was chatting with the Russian side, which did not want to give the property. ‘The Russian side illegally refers to it being the territory of a diplomatic institution, although it never was’, - he pointed out.

-         ‘There was the judicial execution to the request of Warsaw City Hall, given with the full agreement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, on the basis of the court’s decision to give the Polish State the right of ownership of this building, which has been illegally held by the Russian Embassy for years’

History of building

The Vice President of Warsaw reminded us the history of the house at 45 Kielecka St. On the side of Kielecka St, it is a historical building. In 1936, it was bought by Jan Kepura. After the war, the communists, according to the Warsaw Decree, became the owners of the building and all realty in Warsaw. In 1953, the Ministry of National Defense gave the building to the Soviet Embassy in Warsaw for indefinite use free of charge. In 2010, the city terminated the agreement with the Russian side. Since 2011 it has been conducting legal proceeding about receiving the relevant executive document.\
